Christmas Only Comes Once A Year!

So, get in on some of Texas Marine’s unique gifts for the boater, angler or watersports enthusiast in your life!

This one is a new and innovative way of dealing with the many rods and reels scattered around your home. The Angler’s Tote and Angler’s Tote XL are versatile, multi-use gifts for fisherman. Both are rugged, compact designs that are ideal on-board rod racks for any boat. Each model loads and unloads quickly. The 8-rod model uses upper and lower clips to hold light tackle rods  in place. The 6-rod model, design handles larger combos, uses upper and lower brackets. The clips and brackets are adjustable up and down on the frame for perfect control. Ultra-light crappie rigs up to 2 piece surf rods can be carried easily. The rods are separated, which keeps them tangle free when carried with the terminal tackle. Each model can be locked into on-board positions or removed by use of a single hitch pin.

It is quick and easy to mount and use. Innovative, efficient new way to transport and store your fishing poles.

  • Select a desirable place on the boat deck for a vertical rod rack
  • Position rack & place the mounting rails in position shown
  • Mark/drill 2 pilot holes for each deck mounting rail
  • Attach deck mounting rails to boat deck.
  • Secure rack base to deck mounting rails with hitch pin

Soufiko-A Unique Recipe For Your Fish

Soufiko is a great complimentary dish to simply pile onto of your steamed white fish or use as a pizza topping sprinkled with feta cheese.

Soufiko-A Unique Recipe For Your Fish

2 Eggplants, chopped

2 Potatoes, chopped or 2 cups of chopped pumpkin (very much optional, I prefer without)

2 Purple Onions, halved and then sliced

2 Garlic Cloves, chopped

2 Bell Peppers, sliced

2 Zucchinis, chopped

2 tsp Salt

2-3 Tomatoes, fresh, chopped

½ cup Oil

2 tsp Greek Oregano (quality as good as dried oregano)

Serves 6-8 as a side dish-

To make Soufiko-a unique recipe for your fish simply chop the vegetables about the same size – 2-3 cm cubes. Make sure you save the juice from chopping tomatoes and put it into the dish with tomatoes. Layer the vegetables in a big frying pan with a heavy base and a lid, or a very shallow pot, in the order I’ve listed, pouring olive oil over the top at the end. Cook the Soufiko on a low heat, covered, for 20-30 minutes. Sprinkle oregano over the top at the end and pour more olive oil on top to serve, hot or cold.

TIPS for Soufiko-A Unique Recipe For Your Fish

  • use only in-season vegetables. It won’t taste right otherwise.
  • don’t fry the onion or garlic first (some people do)
  • don’t salt the eggplant first (the juices are good)
  • layer the vegetables from longest-to-cook to fastest-to-cook

Texas Marine Brokerage Employees Fishing Retreat

When Texas Marine staff decided that they needed a little fishing retreat, they knew right where to go! So, last month the team packed up and headed over to Lake Calcasieu to enjoy a few days of fishing together. A good customer, Captain Anthony Busceme, had told them about the fisherman’s paradise that awaited anglers at Hackberry, ever since he bought his 2008 NauticStar 2400 at Texas Marine . His business the “Blackdog Fishing & Guide Service” is an extremely successful operation. Captain Busceme is now in such demand that he has to have a team of Coast Guard licensed Captains to handle the overage. The Captains are all exceptional when it comes to their expertise of the Calcasieu Lake area’s recreational fishing. Lake Calcasieu has the largest speckled trout population on the Louisiana Gulf Coast.

This area has been a popular fishing destination in S.E Texas and S.W. Louisiana for decades. The Texas Marine team headed out on the guided trip at daybreak to fish the 80 square miles of saltwater heaven. The lake is also known to locals as “Big Lake,” but in all reality it is a humongous estuary. There is so much marsh and backwater that anglers can get lost in there, which is why many choose the guided route. There are areas of the Lake you can actually fish salt and freshwater for an extremely rare opportunity. This massive body of saltwater in flows through such a small bottlenecked shipping channel that its unprecedented, anywhere else in America. Calcasieu Lake’s inhabitants include such species as Speckled Trout, Flounder and Reds, the Big 3 as they are affectionately called here. The Redfish in this area are famous for their fight. The group scored the day they went out. They managed to catch 300 Speckled Trout with 100 of them being keepers.

The trip included all their bait, rods and a highly unusual fish cleaning service. The Blackdog team has a way of filleting fish that most anglers have never seen before. It was intriguing to say the least. Texas Marine will be doing a blog on this in the future, so stay tuned. Artful anecdote’s, expert advice and fishing tutelage is only part of the trips many highlights that the team was able to enjoy on their retreat.
